This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Security

Post by StroppyChops »

I'm looking for some portable door/window security sensors, or possibly some portable motion detection alarms - any suggestions? Battery operated as turning the mains off before a spot of B&E is too obvious, and portable as I'm not paying to install permanent devices for the landlord.

Why not? They'd love it!

Damn, that's a tough one. I feel like it's one of those items you'd need to get outside Cambodia.

A small land mine would probably work fine.

There is that place called something like Home Top on MTT Blvd near the Russian Market that I want to check out and take a thousand pictures of.

This is the Help Wanted section, as in jobs offered and sought. Why not hire a local to be a security guard, or even better - employ a down at heel English teacher. They are always looking for extra hours.

As Murray is fond of saying, if the little bastard wasn't guarding the place, he would be robbing it.

Out by the airport, at hanoi and russian blvd there's a shopping mall (follow the lucky burger sign). next to the moto park, across the street, is a really nice security supply company. they have, or can order, what you need.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for that next time I'm out that way. For the moment balancing the empty beer can on the door knob is sufficing. Will also chase these devices on eBay. I'm surprised they're not much more popular here, along with portable motion detectors.

I'm still working on my immunity to the panel beaters over the road that start beating panels at 6am
