SEA is boring

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The Senate Library is mainly focused on books about law. It also has records of all previous Senate meetings, in Khmer. There's the National Library on Christopher Howes St, but last time I was there, maybe 10 years ago, the selection looked pretty old and outdated. There are also libraries open to the public at JICA HQ on Norodoam and a small one focused on recent Cambodian history at the Bophana Center.

pattaya is not SEA
why not visit Lake Toba, Penang, Solo, Mergui archipelago, Vientiane or Rajah Empat instead of Whore Central?
you hardly have cause to complain really.
i am never bored and always busy, close to broke usually.
i would certainly not be bored in pattaya.
there is a nursery there that has all the spices, vanilla, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg etc.
for a couple kilobucks- you could set up a nursery here and in future sell those plants, vanilla in particular only takes a short time to grow. an orchid. 2 inch cutting is worth $2 ex malaysia tissue culture lab.

but maybe laboring is easier.
you just take orders and don't have to think or risk.

maybe the absence of someone telling you what to do leaves an unsettling void.

But seriously it is very few boring here I mean where is the parks, librarys, fishing spots ,surfspots ,skateparks, community centres in SEA?

I believe thisis a huge underlying issue fueling to the huge drug and alcohol consumption in the region because there is simply just nothing to do.
Go to Hillbrow, Jo'Burg, you wont be bored and they have a library there:

You are one crazy cat. JoBerg was great untill the Nigerian coke dealers turned up and started pulling their tricks. One thing you can say about sub Saharan Africa is it's definately NOT boring.. And Cambodia / SEA looks/ feels like death, not even warmed up a bit, in comparison. Jamie seems to get a lot out of life here. He loves the music, the language etc. But i bet even he would be fucking amazed at the equivalent in somewhere like Kenya. Open people, wild clubs and bars, beautiful parks in the cities, good architecture, great music and colours everywhere etc.
Then again maybe he's already been? It's a lot more dangerous in some ways, but a lot less hastle in many others. I travel to learn. In Africa I learnt more in a year and a half, than I've done in SEA in almost seven years. Anything much I've learnt here has mainly been from books etc. Second hand info. It's a personal thing though, I'm sure others have had completely different experiences here.

I think SEA would have been a lot more interesting a fair few years ago. When they had just opened up again, or before mass tourism in Indonesia, Thailand etc. And of course before massive population growth and globalisation.
As far as you not being bored goes, I understand what you're saying. But what do you do for fun?

I neva beem to africa but it looks ghetto and sketchy but also very fun.

Thai ,khmer and many countrys in Asean in general people will play on there phone 8 hours a day eat 5 times a day and sleep the rest of the time and be completely content, this as a westerner seems lazy ,boring and backwards.

This is where ASEAN gets boring watch locals and what they get up to ,they will be either be playing facebook Or sucking on there teeth staring into space.

What's happened to your sentence structure Frank? Bargaining with people who refuse to reach an acceptable price is definitely not fun. Which is one of the reasons I hardly go shopping here anymore. In Kenya etc, I always used to go to bars with good music and shoot the shit with educated Africans who were poor but smart, and didn't mind chatting about their country and lives. Or more often, just going round Kenyan friends houses/ rooms to listen to musc, smoke bangi and have a beer.

Is there some Finnish blood mixed in with your native American ancestry?
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.
