"Science does not kill God"

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

@tightenupvolume1 in Quran there is no mentioning of Islam during the flood. Only believers and none believers. Have you talked to a Islamic scholar or mula or something, or do you just repeat what you may have read on forums and blogs.

It has been proved that people of religion - and i use that term loosely - have happier and more fulfilled lives than those without .

What criteria for happiness and fulfillment were used to arrive at that conclusion? As far as I am concerned organized religion offers a shuck and jive insurance policy to assure believers that they're not really going to die, but will live forever if they follow their contractual obligations.

I agree. My own observational data suggests to me that people living lives with accountability, morality and shared values inside of community have stronger family ties and marriages and are overall healthier and happier.

Also, whether God exists and is real or not, the idea and belief in something greater than oneself that results in observing certain rules and standards, with daily reflection and contrition (prayer) brings forth fruit.

Most all religions are also charitable; they care for the sick, the needy, and the infirm. This helps people to give and to receive and break the selfish human nature.

One can argue the existence of God all they want, but living an intentional and purposeful life of faith seems to be a beautiful thing, when done right.

What on earth does that have to do with religion? Teaching people that they can spend their lives raping, pillaging, and committing genocide and still be rewarded in heaven if they repent to the right God before they die isn't accountable or moral or a value that many people would share if they actually thought it through. Fortunately it's all made up so there's no point in getting pissed off about it.
