Road Closures for National Election

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Why would there be road closures? The only change is that alcohol is not supposed to be sold.

That rhetorical question is kind of a dickish response to a rather innocuous question from a well meaning poster.

Raksmey, I'll try and translate Celtic Truculence into English for you:

The only “closures” came after the “riots” started and from memory it was only a short block or 3 of the riverside for a few hours.

If you mean closure as can’t move because the trucks and cars and bikes roaming around with speaker blaring than that’s another story.

Those disturbances happened long after the actual election. And Brody, thanks for the completely pointless and pedantic English lesson. You seem like a really interesting person.

John Bingham, it wasn't an English lesson. It was a lesson on how to conduct yourself as a conscientious person on a diverse web forum.

And by reverting to type and predictably trying to denigrate me by calling me names: 'pointless' and 'pedantic' and snidely referring to me as 'interesting' goes to show that my comment was wasted on you.

Stay otof if you find being insolent so irresistible. They don't give a shit about that off-putting behavior over there.

Let us drop this so as not to muddy the poor OP's thread any further. You obviously had nothing constructive to add in the first place.

Wasn't there some kind of restrictions on people moving about during the local elections?

Brody, do you fancy yourself as a moderator or something? I'll post here as much as I like, thanks. I've contributed far more here than you ever will with your patronizing and snide remarks. You have managed to post twice on this thread without contributing anything, I gather you don't actually know anything about the topic?

When half the country is on the move to vote in an election this government keeps telling everyone will be free and fair, I doubt they'll be restricting movement.
As Bingham suggests, rhetorical or otherwise, there's no reason to assume there will be any road closures.

The only road closures I recall in 2013 (besides the pre and post election rallies around Freedom park), were during the protests which began in December 2013, months after the July 28 election.

When does the booze ban actually kick in? Friday night or Saturday night?
