Riverside Kampong Cham retaining wall going over

Post by explorer »

Yesterday part of the retaining wall along the riverside in Kampong Cham let go, and started to go over.

This is in front of the Monorom hotel.

You can see the bridge in the background.

No doubt they will repair this, but a lot of sand has washed out from underneath.

Upstream about 2 km, the riverbank has fallen in close to the edge of the road. They will probably need to build a new retaining wall there.

There is a huge amount of erosion on the other side of the river.

Last week a medical center fell in the river about 10 km downstream.

Elsewhere in Cambodia, they are having the same problem with roads collapsing into rivers after flood erosion.
