I HAD a Khmer wife but i have blocked everything out of my memory to do with her.
All dog owners will tell you,,,,, if your old dog dies you will be lonely and you can solve this problem by getting a new puppy.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

No, I was disputing this statement. You've taken my quote out of context (probably because the quotation wasn't clear.) I do not think that the average expat salary is $300 pm, I don't think expats could "live" on this and I think the OP is totally misinformed.eriksank wrote:Anchor Moy wrote:I think the average salary is about $300 per month.
As for "Reasons to love Cambodia" : for me, it has nothing to do with getting rich - with money that is. I am richer in other things here.
And if we have a prize for OT thread ... JL is right, we are the champions

Baguettes, and 'pate', and Chinese pork and duck vendors.

That salary would too close to the bottom of the range. There would be strong local competition that is even cheaper. Going back home would not help either, because they would automate and/or offshore the job. So, it is not a possible salary. This person would be in serious professional trouble.Anchor Moy wrote:I do not think that the average expat salary is $300 pm
Money is indeed not a meaningful goal in itself. It could only ever be the side effect of doing something right. So, that's one of the things that actually make me laugh in Cambodia. You've got all these people running after money, focusing on only that, so that they have no time to do anything else right, and therefore actually to make money. Nobody has ever paid anybody else just for the mere fact that they happen to be running after money. In other words, running after money is a fire sure way never to make any. It is self-defeating.Anchor Moy wrote:As for "Reasons to love Cambodia" : for me, it has nothing to do with getting rich - with money that is. I am richer in other things here.
So, yes, you have to be richer in other things, to stand a chance of ever getting rich. Not everybody who is richer in other things will become rich, but it is certainly a prerequisite.
Re: 10 Reason to love Cambodia
Allow me to be more specific.
I'm from USA and currently working in Thailand. I make about $450 per month and it's enough to live on and have money left over for traveling. I could live off of $300 a month here in Thailand but then i wouldn't be able to travel around and do things I want to do as much.
I have experience in teaching English, office work, and restaurants. I would be interested in finding work in one of there professions or something new such as hotel, casino, Internet, or music.
Does anyone know what the average salary for expats teaching English is?

Aww i was never THAT hung over in PP. I just loved the odd baguette, or the red pork chopped with BBQ sauce and sliced cucumber. I remember both being very tasty and very cheap. Ohh, one more thing i love is the cheap food vendors outside the main markets. The shrimp with rice dishes were awesome!bkktrapper wrote:Try eating that with a hangover , dehydrated, 40 degrees afternoon heat , its not so lovable then.shnoukieBRO wrote:Baguettes, and 'pate', and Chinese pork and duck vendors.
