r u married dunc?Duncan wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2017 4:10 pmjohnnycanuck2017 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2017 10:16 am Hello everyone,
I plan to get married to my Cambodian fiancee in December, however, I have some questions, I have read the articles about the process for marriage to a Cambodian to a foreigner, but sadly I cannot marry in Cambodia because I do not meet the requirement of $2,500 USD a month salary which is like $3200 CDN a month, so the only options I can think of are marrying in Singapore (which is expensive but only requires passports and birth certificates for the both of us) or trying to marry in Thailand or Malaysia, the problem is that I am sure the Thai government will require a freedom to marry certificate from my fiance which I am sure the Cambodian Embassy is not too keen on issuing, but if she got the Freedom to marry (or Single Status Certificate) from her local Sangkat and took it with her, does anyone have any experience with if the Thai authorities would accept it? any help or wisdom anyone could shed on this would be greatly appreciated, weddings are stressful....this just makes it even more stressful thank you all for your time
The CPP government bought these laws in to save people like you from your own stupidity, and now you want to pull down the safety fence and jump over the cliff.
Let's start a '' go fund me '' campaign to save johnnycanuck.

Re: Question Regarding Marriage
I was going to say "run" but some sage advice here seems that it is not difficult. Well of course it isn't, what cannot be arranged here with the right application of cash.
I never married, but should have back before the law changed. About six years ago?
Marriage is a wonderful institution, but who wants to live in an institution?

Re: Question Regarding Marriage
Yep, you need some tea money, as always.. But not much. Just enough to get papers into system. And we are only talking ~20-50$ even if that, depending in which disctrict you have work with. He guarantees it's 100% legal and official, and he has done it for several of his clients. You only need the document from your home country that needs to be legalized by your local Cambodian embassy and then submitted in local disctrict office here in Cambodia. I believe this is the cheapest option to get it done here. If you get married in Cambodia and go through the ministries its minimal 300$ I believe (with the medical check ups etc). And no need to worry about income limits etc.
Re: Question Regarding Marriage
Even if it costs $500 to get it all done in Cambodia, that's still cheaper than flying overseas just to get married.

Re: Question Regarding Marriage
Thank you all for your comments and advice, and I just read the link for your guide PSD_kiwi was very informative, I just hope Mr. Vantha is around in Dec. because I will follow your guide but that is kind of depressing though that it could take 2+ months to process the certificate to marry, especially since I will only be able to be in Cambodia to marry her for 2 months but thank you all the same for the advice
Re: Question Regarding Marriage
@johnnycanuck...you're planning to marry this girl but only spend 2 months in Cambodia? What are your intentions, not being rude but it doesn't really sound like you're that committed.
Back to your problem...ensure that all of your, and your finances, documents are in order, go to the MoFAIC and explain your situation and ask if they can expedite the process at their end, once you have the MoFAIC approval then go straight to the MoI for the interviews, once again ask if they can expedite, if they can't then go home and return once they have issued the authority to marry letter and go straight to the Sangkat.

Re: Question Regarding Marriage
I have been to Cambodia many times before to be wth her, and I don't like the situation either, I wish I could spend a lot more time with her but my work only allows me a certain amount of time off in Canada, we were engaged already last time I was there, I plan to marry her, and start the spousal sponsorship process as soon as I get back to Canada, but yes I hate the thought of spending such a small amount of time with her but I do need a job to be able to support her when she eventually comes to Canada

Re: Question Regarding Marriage
Just a question about the income statement, do I have to get that document notarized at the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok? and then submit that to the Cambodian Authorities
Re: RE: Re: Question Regarding Marriage
I used an Australia tax statement. Did not get it notarised.johnnycanuck2017 wrote:Just a question about the income statement, do I have to get that document notarized at the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok? and then submit that to the Cambodian Authorities
