Pub Street Sihanoukville Underwater
Re: Pub Street Sihanoukville Underwater
The Pub Street bar owners face a new challenge as the bar area is flooded.
A nicer group of bar owners you would be pushed to find. Recently told to move out in a few months and now the swamp fill seems to have put a further issue on their plate.
The storm last night has put the drainage issue to the test.
The whole place is under about a foot and a half of water. The bars on the left fairing better than most on the right.
Its hard to see how this will play out.
They need our support .

I see they say Pub Street open for business.
Great news.

Good idea. This ever happen perhaps connect to a waste water system for a start!!
That swamp must have been a haven for every bad bacteria known to man.
The longer you see the Sihanoukville story unfold you can't help but shake you head.
This swamp fill will be problematic.
I wish Pub Street well in their last few weeks but today wasn't a great sight. What was that song: " know when to fold, know when to walk away"!!!

I must say they had it coming. When it was built I was very surprised they didn’t fill up the land beforehand.

The rainy season must be a testing time for Sihanoukville!
We are in the hot season and waste water is a problem.
The storm last night may be a warning of things to come!!

Yes, the swamp is a big deal, but that's just the start. With the present rate of construction, I reckon that in 2 years there will be no wetlands left in Sihanoukville town-beach area.Jamie_Lambo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 8:49 pm could be the straw that breaks the camels back now, still cant get over the fact theyve filled in the swamp
Huy Bunleng posted a series of photos on his FB page about an hour ago.
For now, they say that it's construction thats blocking the drainage, but what will happen when there's nowhere for the water to drain? We don't even have a decent river.
