Province or city for month of May?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Update:
My arrival date is quickly approaching. I have sent Nice Guest House an email about a reservation since according to my research it has much better reviews than Techno guest house. I decided to do the guest house route since I have been talking to a lot of individuals offline who share the same opinion as many members here, they advise me to not even stay in PP the entire time. They advised to arrive at a well known cheap accommodation and then just start exploring.

They were even saying that if you are feeling really adventurous and can somehow squeeze it in, then spend two weeks in Cambodia and then catch a cheap flight from there to Vietnam before heading home. I checked and getting a visa for Vietnam isn't hard and only takes 2-4 business days. I think I will do this.

Any extra thoughts?

You will be arriving, looking for accommodation, spending time getting orientated , getting visa for Vietnam, traveling [ and waiting at bus stn ] by bus , looking for accom in Snooky ? , traveling to Vietnam , [ spending time on bus ] ,,,, REPEAT REPEAT, And the same in Vietnam.

You are spending to much of your '' holiday '' doing what ?,,, Why not cut out the Vietnam trip and go there next year. This will give you a good excuse to have a holiday next year , and give more time to sit back and relax in Cambodia this year.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.

I was referring to getting the visa before I leave home. Accommodation is already taken care of given that Nice Guest House responds soon. I will not bus from Cambodia to Vietnam, I will take a flight there from PP. Excuse me, if my last post wasn't clear. The Vietnamese Embassy opens in about 90 min., shouldn't be too painful, I hope.

Ok, guys I am here in PP now. You all were absolutely 100% correct! Thank goodness I listened! The place I am at now I only booked for for two days. It is NOT good! It is right on the other street over from the Lux apartments, so I went and checked them out before I took a nap. Now, I just woke up and am about to go get something to eat but the wifi is not working at all (11pm). The guy who is supposed to be in charge of this place, I still have not seen him even though he had me waiting at the airport for almost two hours.

The Lux seems to be nice but I really don't think I like being in this area. It doesn't smell too nice. I am going to try and walk to the Nice Guest house and try them next. I really don't need something as expensive as the Lux it seems, I just need somewhere to use a desktop computer and do laundry in an area that has all the essentials within walking distance (5-10 min.) such as supermarket, restaurants, place to do laundry, etc.

another update:
The guy in charge of the apartment suddenly is supposedly here and wants to take me out tonight. I think I'll pass since the arrival really left a bad first impression.

I walked around a lot last night and I don't think PP is that bad at all in terms of safety. I went to NICE guesthouse (since they never answered my emails) and they said they should have a room for me on Wednesday. This guesthouse seems to be in a more local area than riverside so should be able to practice more Khmer. It has been rough so far especially without internet so hopefully the wifi there is good and the rooms also.

I also found a coin laundry place to do laundry at which isn't that far from the guesthouse. Now that that is sorted, I think I can just focus on getting better at the language and meeting people.

Thoughts?

That's great and welcome to the Kingdom of Wonder (give it a few more days and you will know exactly why we call it this).

I do not get out often but I should be free on the weekend if you would like to catch up and have a beer send me a PM.

fb = Facebook ?

@kiwiincambodia - Yes. While I was eating dinner last night, I guy on a moped crashed into some other parked mopeds right beside where I was eating. He was ok but bloody drunk. The owners weren't mad and he drove off after five minutes of talking with them.

This is what I had last night:

Not bad but I thought I ordered beef and apparently I said pigeon instead. Oh well, I just have to remember that beef is សាច់គោ and pigeon is សត្វព្រាប.
