Province or city for month of May?
Re: RE: Re: Province or city for month of May?
Lux is on bargirl alley, an effective, if expensive way to practice Khmer..
Nice is over near orrusie, right? Plenty of food, shopping, laundries about. Grab a pew at any of the little streetside coffee/noodle shops over near olympic/sihanouk Blvd and chat away. Capitol is always full of people, waiting for buses, probably a good place to sit, people watch, strike up conversation.
Enjoy. I'd love a month of wandering around practicing Khmer.

I wondered why your meal ended up sidewaysKhmer_mutt wrote:fb = Facebook ?
@kiwiincambodia - Yes. While I was eating dinner last night, I guy on a moped crashed into some other parked mopeds right beside where I was eating. He was ok but bloody drunk. The owners weren't mad and he drove off after five minutes of talking with them.
This is what I had last night:

Probably asked for a side salad in Khmer.

I just uploaded what I had tonight for dinner to share here and I now see that tinypic.com distorted the image's orientation. It inverted today's picture. Sorry about that, I'm not sure how to fix it.
I said the correct words today, at least for beef anyway. For the second dish, I wanted chicken stew which I guessed was មាន់ស្ល but as you can see, what I received was មាន់សុ៊ប.

Here's today's dinner. It was so delicious! I just wish the chicken didn't have those annoying small bones. I really like the owner's daughter, she looks mid-20s with a rockin body! I can't keep my eyes off of her and her mom knows it, she just laughs the entire I'm there while staring. The dad not so much so I try my best not to stare so hard but the daughter also stares me down smiling as well while checking to see if anyone is watching. No English though at all for her.
Also, I wanted to say that I have now been to a couple of libraries here and it seems to me that the youth here in Cambodia are smart and well spoken. A lot of them are multilingual speaking Chinese and/or French, I was pleasantly surprised to hear their wonderful speaking abilities.
For the coin laundry, here is the pic you inquired about. I snapped it on the way home tonight:
I have also checked into NICE guesthouse. What a nice to place to stay at. It is very much appropriate for my kind of trip. Clean (except for the walls), wifi works well, feels safe, and the staff is not bad.
But I still feel I may need to get to the countryside, even here a ton of people speak English and readily use it when I try to practice Khmer. I'm not sure where just yet but I met a Khmer language teacher who invited me to the Christian school she teaches at. She's cute but religious, I'll try it anyway.
