Primitive Survival Cambodia jungle videos faked

Post by Randolphgb »

There's a whole sub-genre on YouTube of Cambodian 'jungle men' building elaborate properties out in the wilderness. One such channel is 'Primitive Survival".

There's videos are completely unrealistic and clearly faked. They are very well produced, by professional cameramen and the finished products are quite advanced. What I'm looking for is clear evidence the videos are faked - e.g built with larger teams off-shot and tools.

There's no way some random guy with a camera is trawling the villages looking for dudes who can built this stuff with their bare hands. Where are they picking up the actors from? Are there agencies in Phnom Penh that provide these? How are they finding the land to build these?

Can anybody see any clear examples in the videos that would indicate power tools were used? Marks on the side of the holes they dig, locations, clothing, the building materials.

I believe that people off-set use power tools to do the work, then the cameraman grabs a few shots of the Cambodian dudes scratching around with their hands.

Here are some of the videos

All of these are copies of the original and far less extreme Primitive Technology channel, which is more realistic with a guy making clay fire bricks, ash cement, bamboo huts etc etc

Not sure who makes them, but the videos likely are decent money makers. They have hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube and are likely monetized with advertisers. A lot of the videos in this same genre show 55 million or more views, which means there are some very good financial incentives for producing them.

I remember watching a few videos with ladies fishing in a creek in seductively wet attires with simple devices or another one catching and cooking a snake. They didn’t look like they required a huge budget to produce. Also had millions of views and were called “primitive survival”.

They aren't "fake", as much as they are productions.

The channel that created this subgenre is Primitive Technology. It's not a Khmer channel and seems pretty legit in terms of authenticity.

A bunch of copycats emerged (lots of them Khmer for some reason) and in their quest to compete, yes, it seems a lot of them are now staged. Who and how I don't know, but the motive is obvious.

Yes, the original channel was an Aussie guy and the videos are a lot more realistic - just basic things he's making.

The copycat sites are over the top and thoroughly deceptive. They portray 'jungle men' who have some kind of amazing building skills. The reality is that there's a producer creating the videos and probably also a small team of builders. The YouTube revenue from the videos is high so they can afford to make an outlay of at least $1,000 per video.

But again, it's false and people fall for it all, judging by the comments and the articles in MSM, https://www.facebook.com/16430541029588 ... 4332565252 and https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... tools.html,

Coconuts looked into this phenomenon last year with a 2 part story.
https://coconuts.co/bangkok/features/pr ... ia-part-1/
https://coconuts.co/bangkok/features/pr ... ia-part-2/

In 2018, there was also "Wilderness survival: five of the Asian YouTube stars getting millions of hits" in the SCMP which looked into it, but not quite as well as coconuts. https://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/travel-l ... rs-getting

Both of the above are worth a read, but if you just want to cut to the chase, then this video should answer your questions (video link from coconut).
Warning, the guy in the video is an Aussie and swears like a trooper. You were warned cnuts!

It never crossed my mind that people could think this was real, lol.

It really doesn't merit the OP's outrage or "expose" type stories. Just some brain deadening fluff on YouTube.

If you want some YouTube stuff to really annoy you with fakeness, look up "Golden Beard Media" - some Aussie prick hired a ton of flippers to dig for fake gold (rocks sprayed gold) in a fictional volcano and passes it off as real for the camera.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
