Primitive Mentality

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Primitive Mentality

Post by Captain Steve Rogers »

- Marrying at 50 years old is considered unethical
- Arranged marriages
- Inconsiderate towards people that aren't friends or family members
- Stubborn (never accept faults even if caught red handed)
- Prideful
- Boastful
- Self Conscience (wanting to change their skin to white)
- Unconditionally unable to help strangers without receiving some kind of benefit
- Spiteful behavior
- Proud of their beer instead of actions

These are my observations being here 3 years and counting can you think of more? in fact can any of you think of the positives? :o

Egad!!! Of course not!

People can often be hostile to change. Regardless of whether it's in their best interests or not.

Stay safe.

I'd say you've just exposed yourself "Captain". %)
(Note to samouth on how you can use "expose yourself" correctly.)

If it looks like a troll and sounds like a troll ...should we feed it or not ? Can we throw peanuts at it ? :please:

My troll-dar was going off too, but apparently not. Show it a bridge, see if it tucks itself away...

I think people are mis taking the reasons for OP's focus on trying to change some of the less desirable traits he commonly sees around him in order to try and lift people up into a more functional society.

Perhaps some of the challenges he sees here, he has experienced and overcome in his home community.

Just because a point is made that is controversial does not make the poster a troll.

There is no doubt education is key to change in every country- there is nothing insulting in suggesting that education is needed.

I think though- that the same traits elaborated in the OP are also strongly present in the West- we just hide or dress it up a little more.
