You're right FLB, in my case the cops won't even impound it-at least not for a minor infraction.

why is a part of me tempted to buy a cub now? lol might get one if i do my road trip round the kingdom lol would be a good crack lol

@jamie, Went to Kratie, Stung Treng, Banlung, then all the way back. Took about 5 days but I stayed in each place for a while to enjoy because of family living in each area.

@frank, easy to get confused, so I'll explain.

Short version: Long story short, it is a direct copy of a revised variant of the Super Cub which Japan abandoned after a few years.



Short version, but much longer:

There have been maybe 10 or 12 different Super Cubs in production alongside each other at any given time, not all of them compatible or sharing parts with each other, but I will only focus on the three I typically see in Cambodia.

The "Round" Super Cub from 1969 to 2007 (pictured is a 1981). These are the classic shape Super Cub, comes in 50, 70, and 90cc variants.




The "Square" Super Cub from 1984 to 2012 (produced alongside the round and square bikes), pictured is a 1999. Comes in 50, 70 and 90cc engines also.




The "New Generation" Super Cub from 1986 to 1994 (produced alongside the round and square bikes). Comes in 100cc ONLY with new style transmission and drivetrain. Largely incompatible with most Super Cub Classic and Custom Classic parts. This is the bike that the Thai, Viet, Philippine, Malaysian, Indian, and Korean Hondas would be based on. The generation did not do well in Japan for the most part, and disappeared altogether in 94'.





ANYWAY, the Daelim Citi 100 (below) is a licensed copy of the "New Generation" Super Cub and began production in 87' to 95' I believe.




Anyway, despite that it might look like the "square" Super Cub, it is largely incompatible mechanically. This is why the only parts available to fix such bikes "new generation" vs. "classic" are all from Thailand or Vietnam (or used Korean), because this platform never took on in Japan.

That's the short version, excluding such variants as the MD, CD, Cross Cub, U.S. and European models.

nice, what are the roads like? good quality? scenic?

Roads weren't great, but that's comparing it to many other nicer countries. The only complaint I had was the constant "wavy" features in the road, causing me to pogo stick a lot.

Scenery was...well, I'm not a fan, but it was an adventure.

yeah thats the main thing the adventure and the main reason why i want to do it, thinking of taking a few weeks out and go round as much of the country as possible stopping off in each place i fancy,
what are the buy/sell prices for a good 2nd hand cub?
i normally have a '15 Airblade, but if im off on a big trip like that i want something thats easily/cheaply fixable/servicable if anything mechanical goes wrong, been watching some videos on youtube of this guy who drove from malaysia (inc thailand/cambodia/vietnam etc) all the way back to the UK with his Cub, really cool videos to be fair also done an alaska to argentina on his c90 also
