Predictions for 2015

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The Thais have come thru plenty of troubles over the past 80 years
(read "The King Never Smiles").

They will get thru this.
Yes, most likely they will since they are quite adept at adapting to problems using their famous "mai pen rai" rather than attempting to solve them at any level. Just look at the traffic in Bangkok and how locals are quite happy commuting for two plus hours both ways an a daily basis (just one example).

The Khmers also got thru the Pol Pot/Khmer Rouge period, but that didn't make it any less serious or tragic.

Anyway, I'd still like to predict it just in case it actually happens.
But as the worlds longest serving monarch and wishing him longevity but how will his passing accelerate things in a negative way?
The main reason that they "have come thru plenty of troubles" is the stabilizing influence of the king. Once this anchor is gone, things may become more chaotic.

Ultimately though, that's is just one factor. The political problems, social divisions and economic weaknesses are already present and will likely be compounded once the big event occurs.

Finally, there is the question of succession, which you can read about below (don't just read the headline):

I may be going to hell in a bucket,
but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

I also predict that Mods will continue deleting posts until their fingers are chopped off or they go blind,, Millions of people will die in 2015 and millions of babies will be born to replace them. Other than that 2015 will be just another year of chaos like 2014.
Any other members out there with crystal balls ?

Only 12 days left till the new year, and it looks like all my predictions for 2015 all came true. I am just waiting for the batteries in my crystal ball to charge up and we can get into the predicting what will happen in 2016.
