Pork pies, ham sandwiches and cheddar cheese rolls.
As a UK expat living in Cambodia i'm looking at Brexit with a mixed sense of emotions, anger and frustration come to mind together with lots of amusement. latest scare stories from the remain campaign, as reported by Richard Littlejohn from the Daily Mail include the following:
The daftest scare yet was the idea Eurostar passengers will have their ham sandwiches, pork pies and cheddar cheese rolls confiscated by customs officers before they travel through the Channel Tunnel.
At gunpoint, presumably. This ‘story’ was delivered in all seriousness by TV reporters standing on the concourse at St Pancras.
So, I imagine, if caught with a Pork Pie Brits will be marched off to court under an armed police escort and face the same consequences as drug and gun runners, people smugglers etc.
On arrival of customs officers on a train I can see all the Brits frantically stuffing their faces to destroy any evidence.
Oh crumbs, lifes a breeze.

As the descendant of convicts I, like the rest of the world, am laughing at the UK.
Although I do enjoy ham sandwiches.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Nah, it really needs to be Australian or New Zealand cheese if it's going on a sandwich. That "luncheon" meat always disturbed me as a kid, possibly because there was a meat processing factory slash abattoir near our town and I've seen what goes into the slurry.
It took me a while to work out what it is in the top of that photo - not a food product.

NZ cheese shipped to OZ in 50 kg blocks and packaged into smaller packets.
Same as sent to Singapore and packaged for export into smaller packaging with multi languages

Stroppy, same as Pies and Pasties-all the shitty bits like eyes, penises and balls etc are "minced-up" with a few additives and then covered in pastry.
However, as I can't see what i'm eating, I still think a good pie is hard to beat especially if served with mushy peas and/or some tomato or brown ketchup. A dollop of Colmans English Mustard also helps the Pie go down treat.
Eat, drink and be merry.

They didn't exactly push the boat out with their product naming, branding and package design. It looks cheap and nasty.Duncan wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2019 4:23 pmWhat about the cheese.StroppyChops wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2019 4:07 pm As the descendant of convicts I, like the rest of the world, am laughing at the UK.

To the OP,
For one I wouldn't take much notice of what's written in the DM comic, secondly if Brexit is such a good idea why is the British PM pleading with the EU for extra time, they have had almost 3 years
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... ees-brexit
PS, it is normal practice to set food safety standards, most countries do it, the DM true to form sensationalise what is already in place, bendy bananas and banning a cup of tea in the morning, Ffs .

Although apparently it IS a source of calcium.
Any other company would flog the crap out of their cheese being Australia/NZ-made. We buy Australian cheese in 2kg blocks under a relatively plain label from [deleted - it's already to hard to get, you bastards!] and recognise the Australian brand - lasts us a couple of months, so it's a good buy.
