Police Make Plans to Protect Foreigners from Petty Crime

Post by General Mackevili »

Finally, Cambodian police are going to put an end to these increasingly common bag snatchings, pickpocketing and other petty crimes against foreign nationals.

The good news? Tourists and foreign investors will be safe.

The bad news? Doesn't sound like they care about us expats much.

They also acknowledge that there is a lot more crime in Sihanoukville this year, and that the Russian mafia is getting out of control.

“But Cambodia does not allow mafia foreigners to come to commit illegal offenses on Cambodian land. If this happens, police forces will investigate those people and punish them by the law. The foreigners caused offenses such as revenge, shooting with intent to kill, love triangles and business conflicts," General Savoeun said, according to a transcript of the remarks posted to the National Police website on Sunday.

The draft plan has been sent to all 27 foreign embassies in Cambodia.

I feel safer already! Image

What, if you are alone and you had your phone snatched or been robbed. Not mobs are always around.

Don't know, to be brutally honest, I don't feel they care about locals. As long as the tourists and people coming here to spend money feel safe that is all that matters.

LoL, they're only improving safety for tourists and investors because they bring in big money.

Expats and locals are out of luck this round!
