Police Crack Down on Laughing Gas (Nitrous Oxide)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

International hotel chains, large resorts, etc. They're finally realizing that backpacker don't equal money...

Thanks for the report, Captain Obvious

To me, what with the dodgy beach food and laughing gas, Silanoukville was just all shits and giggles.

when I first lived in Sihanoukville, about 3 years ago, they made serious efforts to clean up the image of the beach. All beach bars were made to shut off music and close down at midnight. someone came down to the old JJs and fired gunshots in the air, thats how far they went.
it never lasts

first thing, it's a stupid high. Secondly, without air mixed in at proper amounts it can be seriously damaging, granted you'd have to be huffin a line from a tank but still, do you want the stigma of "easy drug use" to be attached to you when you have ASEAN looming?

sometimes stupid shit oughta just be stopped. It's hard to take them seriously tho, when they let drinking and driving flourish.
MUCH easier to tackle the stupid shit backpacker kiddies do.

They could straighten up their police force, a huge task indeed, but more effective than this. Taking a few tanks from local backpacker bars .

Sihanoukville very much has straightened up their police force. As the new governor came in a lot heads rolled and a lot of people moved in with the intent of cleaning shit up.

That's why were seeing this, all of the recent drug busts, thieves getting nabbed, even the traffic police have started sending people to the police office to pay their fines.
