Poipet crossing

Post by chiltern »

I was expecting some goods to be sent from Bangkok to Phnom Penh on the bus via Poipet on Friday but have been told they cant dispatch it as they have been told that the crossing could be closed for several days. Probably nothing in it just the usual Khmer rumour mill.

I just crossed the border from Thai back in to Cambodia.

a little quieter than I expected. 3 police roadblocks on the thai side getting increasingly well manned with a passport check at the last (about 15km out from the border)

some police and military on the cambodian side but nothing that gave the impression of armageddon. No hold ups or extra checks.

I would say business as usual but people are avoiding it because they didnt know that

They never close the border except for the regular night times.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
