Pls help me to find a guest house in PP

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Well, there are plenty of barang-run places, but best look in the Guide de Routard or a barang forum/Trip Advisor.
However, a lot of French guesthouses are run by Khmers - and a lot of other guesthouses are also run by Khmers, strangely enough. :?

Ok, I'll play nice. There is a place run by a Kiwi by Kandal Market, St. 13 - it's called Blue Kiwi guesthouse. Has a good rep, but I've never stayed there.
(And I don't know the Kiwi in question, so I reckon he owes me a free beer. :beer2: )

Top bloke, nice guest house, cold beer...but judging by the OP, that would be too central for him and he would probably piss the Kiwi owner and Khmer staff off because I get the impression he is the problem...not the people he claims to have had issues with.

In that case I might rock up for my free beer and get a knuckle sandwich. =@ LOL

Right, don't come just stay in your comfort zone. what is the point to come to a country where you find yourself not to get along with its people. There are more than 15 million Cambodians in Cambodia.

Mrs S and I were enjoying a resort pool in SR when an Aussie douche floated over and tried to get some sympathy on Khmer not being very friendly. He didn't like the blunt response he got, and tried to argue Khmer have no sense of fun. After we told him our views on that he seemed pretty keen to leave the pool and go back to the bar. I wasn't even rude, just told him we live here, our experience of Khmer people is very different, and asked if he thought he might be the problem.

Yes, yes, take it easy. I didn’t say I wouldn’t like the noble Khmer race even though deporting some of them barefoot with theirs SUV’s to Antarctica seems to be appropriate.
Thanks for your tips so far – I just try to avoid Cambodian, English or Australian owned guest houses. They are weird. Last time a Cambodian threw me out because I dared to complain that the showerhead was defective, and the last English guy was going for my throat because I ordered breakfast without fucking beans.
I’m just looking for a normal guesthouse, with a normal owner and normal guests on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. Also, I’m not French and I have nothing against them.

Ha, I think I have detected the problem here,,, Nothing is NORMAL in Cambodia,,,, Except you.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
