Had not heard this song since 1990 Sammy Haggars's Cabo Wabo Cantina Baja Mexico. It was fun. You got an ok to slap the girls ass in this dance.

Jamie

Can't get the Saravan song out of my head at the moment. Asked Songsa to find it but she said there are heaps of Saravan songs. but the one I'm thinking of is new? I think. Do you know the title of the track?

Also she says that there are 5 types of dances in Cambodia.

1. Saravan - hands kept low
2. Some Khmer word I can't pronounce - hands halfway up the torso
3. Apsara
4. Modern nightclub dancing - another khmer word I can't pronounce
5. Madison - When she pronounced this it took me ages to understand what she was talking about. But... something like the nutbush dance but came out in the 50's.

Any chances of finding some clips with the different types of dancing?

we will start with Saravan song...
this is likely the song you wanted, its by dub addiction

there is also this that you might have heard

this is the original song

the lyrics in English:

Oh~ Please join us in this dance
Please join us, boys and girls, old and young
In dancing the saravan
Regardless of your status

Wear the air, saravan, wear the air
Wear the air, saravan, wear the air
Wrap yourself with the sky, o saravan
O come wear the air.
And wrap yourself with the sky

This group just started (the dance)
Boys and girls waited for so long
Prepared everything so good and beautiful
Dancing in the circle saravan

Saravan, come in
Come in, come in, saravan
Come in, dance the saravan

Wear the air, saravan, wear the air
Wear the air, saravan, wear the air
Wrap yourself with the sky, o saravan
O come wear the air.
And wrap yourself with the sky

This group is renowned to be important
Enjoy yourself, you'll have a long life
Please join, old and young
In dancing the saravan

Saravan, go forward,
forward, forward, saravan
Dance forward, o saravan, o

Wear the air, saravan, wear the air
Wear the air, saravan, wear the air
Wrap yourself with the sky, o saravan
O come wear air.
And wrap yourself with the sky

Come and breathe in the fresh air
The sky is clear and smells of flowers
Girls are as beautiful as angels
The crowds want to dance saravan

Saravan, step backward
Backward, backward, saravan
Dance backward the saravan
