To Phuket Richard

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

To Phuket Richard

Yesterday I went to the Immigration Department here in Bangkok and asked them about the " Dependency Visa" that you and I talked about before. And the officer I spoke with told me there is no such visa for that. He recommended me to leave the country until I turn 50 and then get a retirement visa. Just wanted to let you know.

he was wrong; or u asked the wrong thing.
its not really called a "dependent visa but (sorry if i gave u the wrong name)
It would be a non-o visa based upon being the parent of a Thai.
That is an extension of stay done at immigration under clause 2.18 of .Police Order 327/2557 basis for extension of stay.

"2.18 In the case of being a family member of a Thai national (applicable only to parents, spouse, children, adopted children, or spouse’s children):"
Thats how i got this visa and had it for 2 years before i turned 50. I also went to court and had legal sole custody of my daughter.
if u have a child u can get a non o visa abroad for reasons the thai child is urs and than extend in country for 1 year,
Are you supporting a child in Thailand?

The Child Support visa is advisable for unmarried foreigners who are in a relationship with a Thai national, have a child or children with that person, and are committed to adopt and raise the Thai child/children. If a foreigner is currently unwilling or unable to marry this might be a very good option.
