Phnom Penh Traffic

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

You gotta love Toul Sangke area every night from 4pm until 7pm, where the cars sit in the dust whilst the traffic cops are left befuddled and frustrated with the motos that don't have the time to pay attention.

You gotta enjoy the difficulty in getting home from anywhere; Pasteur, Monivong (near Sihanouk Blvd.), Sihanouk and Monireth, Mao Tse Toung and Russian.

The traffic makes this city Blissful. :dragonchase:

Lots of people still don't know about Cambodia. It's still one of the lowest in the development stages in comparison to the rest of the ASEAN.

No need for the high and mighty approach.
It is not true. Compare to Loa, Cambodia is much better in term of development.

At least the traffic is uniformed in HCM or any other metropolis. P.P? it's FUBAR.

Actually i have found Phnom Penh traffic to have its own logic. Pretty crazy, yes, but not wholly unpredictable. Just gotta forget whatever you thought you knew about driving and start thinking Phnom Penh.

PP traffic isn't that bad, once you get used to it.
Edit: I agree with LTO: Phnom Penh (Cambodian) traffic has its own logic.

I worry when I go back home and I get behind the wheel of a car....and my thought process is fucked.

I remember telling my fiend Tim while living here about this(think he wrote about it)

Driving in P.P should be an Olympic event.

You must dodge the The Add Jay on 1 side next to a Lexus XXXL truck driven by a monkey with a military uniform on while on the phone who has a new born in his lap trying to grab the wheel...on the opposite side is a baby duck egg seller with a open flame on his motor cycle who is trying to avoid a man on a bicycle who has oscillating fan parts dangling from his bike who at the same time is falling over the baby diaper and other decomposing trash on the corner. Then up ahead lies men running into the middle of the street trying to flag down any pajama mafia women looking for an express bus back to assfuck no mans land but then they are trying to avoid a grilled banana seller who isnt on his bike but rather gracefully walking it without a care in the world.

Hows that good? Thats my daily routine.

A long time ago, when I sometimes wouldn't leave the country for years at a time, on the rare occasion that I would go back to the States, I'd sometimes competely forget to check speed limits and my speed, and a couple of times I drove through red lights because the traffic was clear, only realizing what I had done after I did it.
