Phnom Penh 2005?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The elephant was sponsored to some extent by La Croissette and used to have a cloth over her advertising the place. Then they'd get her to stop there sometimes for a bit.

Pretty sure that first picture is number 9 guest house and the picture would have been taken in 2005 at the earliest as that's when the place next door got a refurb. The lake was pretty well fucked by 2008.

It's long gone, demolished in 2011. That area is all backfilled and covered in roads now.

Excellent picks. Sad to hear it is gone.

Sambo used to spend the day giving rides at Wat Phnom. Around 5pm every day, she would be walked back down Sisowath, stopping at cafes so tourists could buy and then feed her bananas. I think it was around 2012 when she was put out to pasture, in part because traffic had gotten to the point that she was impeding it.
