Philippines vs. Cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Philippines vs. Cambodia

Post by rubberbaron »

Anybody on this board who lived there for an extended period of time? Cost of living, accommodations, best part to live, food, Filipinos/as vs. Khmer, safety, etc.? I know it's more advanced but the Spanish/American history don't really make a truly Asian country, or am i wrong?

You need to go there and find what and where appeals to you! . Just stay out of Manila if possible which is a giant Hell hole IMHO !
Visit some of the Islands such as Panglao, Boracay or Palawan which cater for all tastes, bars, live music, diving.
Accom more expensive than Cambodia unless you on a monthly deal. Food is mainly crap and overpriced, but if you have a kitchen you're on a winner. Little choice of beer in the bars but can be less than $1. More choice in the Malls, seems quite a bit of good German beers around. Spirits are almost as cheap as Cambodia.
If you are a single guy, well recommended, almost everyone speaks English, alot of hot girls, very friendly. As safe as anywhere (except Manila) in Asia, just have your wits about you and you'll be fine!
