Perceived Levels of Crime
Perceived Levels of Crime
Each and every day, either this or 'Another Forum' report this death or that crime.
Initially it seems that The Kingdom or at least Phnom Penh is tantamount to a Quentin Tarantino film script but is this really the case?
Is this a dangerous, lawless and corrupt place or does the condensing effect or two main English speaking forums (other forums exist) just give that impression?
Thoughts?

Oh, and to answer your question.
Yes Cambodia is a dangerous, lawless and corrupt place. Foreigners should stop coming here because it is dangerous, lawless and corrupt.

Re: Perceived Levels of Crime
Never noticed anything myself, as far as I can see its been pretty quiet in Phnom Penh since '97, and doubly so since I moved out to Chroy Changvar three years ago. I'll go out on the balcony and check. Yes still fairly peaceful!

Re: Perceived Levels of Crime
It is a dangerous place to people with no common sense. Drug and alcohol addictions are a bad idea in places with zero care (and Al Anon whilst well intentioned is perhaps the least successful way to quit - though some do manage it, which means it's better than nowt). Dating prostitutes (usually with their own drug addictions) is usually a bad idea, something people don't do at home but throw themselves into with gay (or straight) abandon in this part of the world. The lack of decent medical care adds to the woes of the underfunded and uninsured dregs of humanity that work in jobs that pay less than McD's back home but fail to provide uniforms, paid holiday or food...
As for crime, there's probably less violent crime here towards expats than there is violent crime in their own countries... though petty theft and burglary are annoying, these can be remedied with a nice dose of common sense and living in a place with security that doesn't sleep all night long....

And I cannot see it getting any better until they do something about the little shits in street 90.
Spoiler:
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
