PassApp scam

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I'm also aware of drivers that accept jobs and then pass them off to their non-PassApp mates, while they're waiting for better jobs to come along.
I don’t think the drivers know the destination when they accept the jobs.
I think they only know the pickup point. That’s what I was told a while back anyway - it is to prevent drivers selecting the jobs they fancy and ignoring others.
I could be wrong, I’m only reporting what I was told.

That would make sense - I don't know either.

Passapp you can add your drop off point which is handy as fuck if you're about to black out
If you enjoy noise pollution and obnoxious driving practices, Phnom Penh is the place for you!

Sorry, I'm a bit behind on Passapp and Grab because I don't spend much time in PP, but please explain why these apps are better than person to person tuktuk negociations.
We haggle, then we agree on a fair price, and everyone is good - most of the time. LOL. Seems to me that the apps are supposed to take away the stress of negociating the fare, but is that the case ?

Predetermined price mate. Around half of what experienced expats can haggle, usually.

Yes, most of the time there's no problem - which makes the odd problem stand out more.

Edit: we still use 2 or 3 traditional guys often, usually to go where we're going, and then PassApp home if we're unsure how long we'll be out.

For me it does what it says on the tin.
Cheaper, no need for negotiation, no need to give directions (normally).
Order the Tuktuk. Get in the Tuktuk. Get out of Tuktuk.
Sometimes no need to even speak to them. Perfect in my eyes :-)

Seriously. If you're going to a private address you might have to point to the right gate, but that's about it!
