Paper or Gun ?

Post by kaputt »

Why i love Asia's Bum Gun

After decades in Asia i immediately fell in love with the BumGun. What a difference to using Toilet Paper ! You're clean when you leave the toilet. Not so by using Toilet Paper which is still embraced by much of the western world and beyond. I am disappointed however that some new buildings like Sorya Mall do not feature a BumGun.

A German Newspaper Columnist finally got the subject into the front line !

As an alternative to conventional toilet roll, Lara Thiede, a columnist for the German Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, has suggested the public should use bidets instead. (she doesn't know what a BumGun is ?)

The journalist urged the public to start searching for hygienic alternatives to toilet paper, advising Germans to consider using bidets.

She stressed that more than half of all toilet rolls is produced from specifically cut trees, but not recycled materials, as they are typically not soft enough.

According to the Institute of Market Research data, as cited by the columnist, the average German household uses 93 rolls of toilet paper per year. This leaves the question if German's are actually full of s..t or if other countries are doing worse or better.

What's your experience..... preference ?

I prefer the bum gun and agree it is more hygienic but unless you are going to have warmed and temperature regulated water then I wince at the idea of using it on a cold European winters day. I know the some countries (Korea and Japan notably) have their electronic seats which feature a heated jet but I can't imagine most westerners paying 100's for a toilet seat when it isn't part of the culture.

I don't know if it is true but I was told/read that bum guns are not legal in some countries in Europe as if you dropped the head in to the toilet bowl there is a theoretical possibility that some of the liquid contents could siphon back in the the water system and contaminate the drinking water

How often do you clean the gun? How often do you think others clean their gun? How often do they clean the gun in a public space?

I brush my teeth with it

Makes me wonder when was it that we were brainwashed into using paper when all our ancestors used water. Perhaps it had something to do with us being educated ,, writing everything on paper and then thinking,,,, what a load of shit , it's only good for ass paper.

What percentage of people on this earth are uneducated and use water and how many people on earth call themselves educated and use paper to clean their ass.

Definitely Bum gun over paper.

It's funny. One of the things I miss most when I leave Asia is a bum gun.

The owner of the place (gym) thought it was a good idea to copy the west and not install a bum gun. I've tried to petition for him to install bum guns but he apparently doesn't give a fck.

The only problem with bum guns is that some people think it's also handy to take a "shower" with, resulting in a super wet bathroom.

Thoughts:

Love it but cant help but imagine how filthy the thing is.
Bum Gun Bathrooms are wet rooms and in hot climates, the water temp is not an issue. Water on floor is not an issue.
Western Bathrooms are not made to withstand flooded floors, so this idea is not compatible.
Interesting to ponder that the third world has cleaner bums than 1st world smearing the shit off practices with paper.
You have never lived till you have shit in Japan, on a heated seat with a control pad beside you to wash and dry your bum. Optimum solution.
I've moved to using wet wipes (baby wipes)
I wipe once with a bit of paper. Clean with the wet wipe; wipe, fold, wipe, toss. Then dry off with paper.
I use a lot less toilet paper, and maintain hygiene.

In all honesty other than my wife, I could give a shit who uses a bum gun or why as I have no intention of getting near others rectal passages. That said my contribution to the topic will be a young ladies video on her experiences with the bum gun.

Some people will do anything for attention, she sounds American with a fake Australian accent.

I dread having no bum-gun whenever I return to the 'civilised' world each year.

My mate, an traveller to Asia for many years, got one installed in his London flat. He bought it from Amazon. The plumber who fitted it was so impressed by it he bought one himself for his own house.

If I ever return to the UK full time it's going to be the first home improvement I make.

When in Bangkok, I stay at a hotel that has toilets that do everything short of making a cuppa. Love it!

Some people seem to wash their children with them too in the Philippines...
