Re: Oudong
Interesting area, the hill is OK but driving around the environs is better. Lots of history from when the Thai sacked the town on the river. Spanish and Portuguese were there and the Dutch I think. The now demolished military base held out against the KR until the King asked them to surrender with some guarantee and the they were all butchered.
The food at all those Khmer attractions is always crap and overpriced. What was the name of the town and port nearby? There are ramparts from the town still visible.
My mate came from there, he described what it was like to walk home from Battambong post KR as a kid. And later watching the Vietnamese trucks and tank transporters rolling past headed home. It took 24 hours for the convoy to pass.

Re: Oudong
Cheers for the extra advice. I'm going with a local girl so I don't think a tour guide is necessary.
I'm thinking 25$ is a little high for a tuk-tuk. I just thought as the drive is pretty long id offer more, will definitely aim for a better price, as he's been my regular for over a year now.

We've told you several times that $15 is plenty. Twenty if you decide to have him drive you around the surrounding area for two more hours or something.

Re: Oudong
Someone said $25 too. But, yes I roughly know the daily rate for a tuk-tuk, 20$ max it is.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Don't go in a tuk-tuk, it's going to suck. A car won't cost much more and you'll be ten times more comfortable.

Re: Oudong
Looking at a recent post with the accident with the tuk-tuk. I would think the extra $15 is well spent.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
