One Good Wooden Leg Deserves Another

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

One Good Wooden Leg Deserves Another

Post by Otis »

I know a rice farming family that lives in the boonies near Kampong Cham. One of the brothers, about 30 now, lost his leg in a moto accident about 2 years ago. He went to rehab at an NGO in Kampong Speu and was fitted with a wooden leg by Handicap International. He's doing very well and works a construction job.

But the leg he has is not very flexible or modern. Handicap does not have the resources to provide a better leg. A better one is available on the private market but is very expensive fir him. He's engaged and getting married at the end of the year. Anyone here know an NGO in PP or elsewhere that might be good for him to go to to get a better leg?

I'm going out on a limb here, but it's not nice to be making puns about this.

I hope more people don't hop on the bandwagon.
