One Good Wooden Leg Deserves Another

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

If you don't mind me pedal'ing my own puns...

I guess I need to get instep with this thread, toe the line, and try to nail one. Otherwise, I could be called calous and a heel. (

Hey, I like this shin-dig. Especially helping someone in knee'd.)

PS Hope you all followed this post's arc, 'cause I am Achil(les)'ing it.

Otis wrote:Thanks. Passed this info to the family.

Hopefully he will be enabled to, with greater agility and elan, leap upon his betrothed when the moment arrives.

@OP
I thought that was quite a touching story - does it have a happy end ? Did the guy manage to find a better leg and leap upon his beloved on his wedding night ? :Bravo:

Well he's apparently been doing a bit of leaping in the interim, the details of which I'm not at liberty to disclose.

As to a new leg, the NGO recommended above does not provide free higher tech legs. He and his family have to pay about $300 for the new improved one, which will be bought in a few months. The training to use the leg will be provided free by Handicap International, an NGO in Kampong Cham where he is already registered.

As to the wedding, the word is it's postponed till early next year due to consultations and dithering by the 2 mother-in-laws with monks and astrologers about a propitious date. The Land of Wonder, go figure.

MORE - He seems to be a strong, competent guy. He regularly works construction jobs near his home in K. Cham and away in K. Thom. When joking w. his sister he says "You are the chicken for the soup, I am the fighting chicken."
