One country, one food item

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

One country, one food item

Post by vladimir »

So, you foodies go out shopping and insist on buying a certain item from a particular country. For example, American mustard? You have got to be joking! Give me Colman's hot English mustard or French pommery. What items do you buy?
Jesus loves you...Mexico is great, right? ;)

Belgian or Swiss Chocolate, in every country.

Cambodians have a funny reaction to real chocolate. Many do not like it.

One meal from each country would be from:
England: Steak and Kidney Pie and Mash
Germany : Wild Boar Stew
Italy: Pizza
Holland : Fries
China: Sweet and Sour Chicken,Chill Crispy Beef, Fried Rice
Austria : Horse-burger
Wales: Welsh Rabbit
I was born with nothing , and I still have most of it left.

From France-boeuf carbonnades a la flamande, ratatouille and from Germany Kartofelsalat(aus Bayern), Eisbein, Kase(und) Zwiebelbroetchen, and from Louisiana in The States, dirty rice and blackened redfish.
OH yeah, Stilton cheese from England. I am a man of simple tastes.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht

In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist
