Most people in western countries think this is not good. Even those who have been in asia for a short time, think this is not good.

When Cambodians see a single man they believe he should get married.

When an old western man wants to marry a young Cambodian girl, in most cases the girl is happy. In most cases the girls parents are happy.

If we exclude men whose greatest ambition in life is to have another beer, exclude men who dont respect girls, and exclude stupid men. Then we exclude prostitutes, girls who just want money, and stupid girls. I know we are excluding a lot of people.

I think, in most cases, a young Cambodian girl who marries an old western man is better off than if she marries a young Cambodian man.

I know there are also other issues to take into consideration.

Live and let live.

It can be sad, given the state of the man or the economic status of the women who date them. It is not going to go away however until the impact is changed in the region. As long as there are girls looking to improve their status financially you are going to see them attracted to older men with money (which mind you happens in more advanced countries as well, its just not as common).

this must come up at least 2x/year in EVERY expat forum by a new member thinking no one else has seen this..

I think that people think what they want to think, when they think, if they think and sometimes they don't even think.
That's my thoughts.
