Is it normal for electric shower heaters not to be grounded?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

So..
You shower in a small room with live mains power, coming out of the wall, within a foot of your shower head; using a cheap resistance heater, chewing a heap of amps for fa return, installed by a Khmer, in a 2 wire society and have to ask if its safe?
(Do i get a prize for the longest continuous sentence?)...... bring on the tefflers and punctuation police!

There are no wires in that pipe. It's just the water inlet. If you're getting shocked by that then the element in the box must be live and the water is acting as a conductor. Get it fixed or replaced. Unless you want your wet, dead naked body on the floor in all the local papers (and here).

Get the thing fixed. That flexible woven water pipe looks like it's connected to the shower unit with a plastic connector. So there must be some problem with a live wire connecting with that pipe somewhere in the wall.

I've installed a Beko at home, nothing but plastic on the outside, very narrow electricity inlet, sealed it just a bit more, and it's very well designed against potential incoming water in general, costed me 85$ at Chhoun Leap on SH blvd near Olympic/st 163 area. They suggested me to come and install it for an additional extra 10$, but the latter i politely refused... They're about the best place you can find for any electric stuff, TV's, Washing Machines, etc... If interested in their exact location just PM me!

But what is the alternative and for the stupid (me) which ones are ok and which not if a person wants a shower with hot water? Are people saying that no box type shower installation should be trusted here?
