Noise

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

dont they do that so you can "feel the music"?

It's no so much the noise that bugs me, it's the crap speaker systems they use, if the sound wasn't so distorted it wouldn't be so bad.

Speaking of weddings, the season is now officially in full effect yo! 12 invites already....and they're all in the next 2 week period....gonna save a bit on my food and alcohol spending for a couple of weeks at least ;)

Edit: It's actually only 7 wedding invites we've got...the rest are birthday parties. I just counted the envelopes without paying much attention to them.

I fight noise with noise. I have two big alum. loudspeakers and an amp. Two hours of submarine dive alarm works wonders.

Ok, I started this topic with Wedding/Funeral noisy music. But the other problem that I was having was from one of these new units that they built over the road from me, a metal fabrication workshop, now the bit of noise that I hear from them cutting and grinding is not so bad, but it is this F'en music box that they have which is played at maximum decibels!!! Well after 3 months of this we (a neighbour and myself) have had this stopped by complaining to the rental company "L.Y.P Group" Koh Kong and I suggested to them to cut off their power (they also control electricity and water here as well) but they said they would not be able to do that, but anyway, what ever they did it has worked with now an occasional blast for a minute or two to let us know that they are still here.
So keeping fingers crossed or else have to move house, but then, the devil  you know is better than the one around the corner. :dragonchase:

I think this will have the desired effect. We put in on the juke box 10 times in a pub that was rude to us once. Customers started leaving after 3rd play, manager pulled the plug after 5th, we'd already gone out to the beer garden by then :D

Ahhh dammit! That's a very valid point which I didn't think about....I could always be a cheap charlie and only put $5 in the envelope, that will get the rumour mill running wild and ensure that we don't receive any more invites for the remainder of the wedding season ; )
