Is nightlife dying in Cambodia?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. I think half the problem is there are so many options now and the girls are spread out.

There used to be limited places you could go so it was easier to go out and not have to move around so much.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

It is much harder to find quality girls for hostess bars than three years ago. They prefer to work in KTVs where the money is better and they don't have to try to speak English and understand slurring drunk barangs with strange accents.
There are also many girls going into the casino and massage industries catering to the recent flood of Chinese single guys.
Nevertheless my personal impression is the same as Kuroneko's that nightlife in PP is thriving but changing in nature with more clubs, discos and upmarket bars.

I part own a ktv and i can assure you drunk khmer guys are every bit as bad as drunk barang if not worse. It is true khmer paymore for the girls but tip less. My khmer friend goes darling club at naga when he has the urge and pays $80 for a "quality" girl. Never been there myself.
St 51 is dying because the mall owner doubled rents in 2014 and drove everyone out by installing gambling rooms for iceheads to use. Now being redeveloped. Pontoon has gone down plughole but lots 9f new khmer clubs or you can go to

Thanks for the advice. I don't think I could stand these Khmer clubs though. I only know one good place which is Oscar's on 104.
I didn't like Pontoon but at least it wasn't a khmer style club. Are there any clubs where you can actually have a good time?

one of the most striking things about this country, which i have enjoyed up til now is the pace of change.
i fear the chinese influx has changed it already, in ways that will not be so good for long noses

I agree Frank but then it is up to "us" to go along with the change and adapt to the conditions that are here. If anyone doesn't or cannot then time for them to find a new patch to call home.

Thanks Kuroneko. I might check this out. My idea of a good time is a place where I can talk to people, the music doesn't blow my head away.
For example Oscar's on 104, or like the old Martini's or the way Sorya mall used to be back around 2012-2014 when there were a bunch of non working girls who would just keep us company.
