New Section Suggestions?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I don't know if this is an option or technically workable but I remember in the earlier days of the internet, we used to have chat rooms. Everyone logged into the same room at the same time delivering one liners. Could / should this be a bolt on to allow a place for the free flow of drivel, thus keeping the forums more on topic and less cluttered. Sometime we need discussion about specific things but other times it is nice just to spend an hour or two bashing the keys, with a beer.

An "about CEO" section could be useful.
If we have specific question or suggestion.

They were shut down by Manila vice squads, Ed.

You should NOT ask for a private show from OD or Cambod. The first is too expensive, the second you'll need a wide-angle lens for your webcam.

lol, I just remember the flow of banter can be better on some occasions. I also think the spirit of this forum and its top self lot, would not feel threatened by such free flowing and open speech

chat is an available mod... but it's then lost. we prefer people chat in threads.

i like... and am working on this idea. i feel it should also come with a well made "about us" actual page (similar to the FAQ page) that can then be linked to/etc.

A rural lifestlye, home and garden type section would be good. Stuff like gardening, building projects, boating, farming, livestock, pets etc. Information on sourcing seeds, timber, tools and so on. Posters could also post any projects they work on that fit within that kind of thing.

To often for me I find it difficult to relate to a lot of the urban stuff you guys are interested in, and threads on these kind of topics tend to end up getting buried under pizza and politics.

I would love a section like this. There's an agricultural group on Facebook in Siem Reap and it's full of interesting information.

You can start the section by moving my ducks and geese thread there. :D

One thing I will say though is that there are people that don't check all new active topics, they only check specific sections/subforums. So if there are too many subforums, some people aren't going to see much. (But I still want this one.)

^--- yep. it comes down to if they check the forums they're used to, or just the "new posts" list. i think we'll go ahead and kick in the ag forum.
