New report button...

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Right here:

I have no desire to see our post count reduced because people can be extra lazy and hit like instead of actually thinking of a reply.
So posting only a "thumbs up" is acceptable because it counts as a post and a "like" or "dislike" wouldn't count? Come on.

By the way, there is no "thumbs down" icon. So from now on, I will comply and post "you suck" whenever i don't agree with some particular post. That will get the post count up. :thumb:

one would hope that by the time a person has clicked to quote/reply and waited for the page to load that they would be willing to speak a little more towards what they are agreeing with. though obviously not always. you heavily underestimate the appeal of a single action lazy solution for people.

the equation is:

people who would have done nothing now make a small and mostly meaningless gesture thats lost as the thread falls away.

people who would have participated in the thread now only make a small and mostly meaningless gesture that's lost as the thread falls away even faster from their lack of real and meaningful participation.

You just click on the stars for as many as you want to give the topic.

I wish they were a little bigger in the topic view :-/

The other forum beat you to the LIKE button anyway, I just saw. The stars things is kinda dumb. The popularity of a thread can be seen by judged by the number of views and replies.

not necessarily... a catchy title will land a lot of views even if it's a crappy post.
a lot of people making fun of one guy will have lots of posts/views but likely be a crappy thread as well.

as for the like button, good for them. they didn't "beat us" to anything, as we've never planned on adding it... as outlined above. they're a bad idea. though it's fitting for k440, the pat each other on the back club will love it.

i disagree; think the Karma is patting each other,
the like means u merely like the post, but not necessarily the poster, but what he says, which is what it should be !!

I dont give karma but i do give thumbs up sometimes

I WOULD have used a thumbs down but there AIN"T ONE (there's TWO thumbs up tho). This smacks of manipulative thought. The idea that you want MORE posts instead of ppl just hitting LIKE (as they have repeatedly requested) makes me think that sometime down the road this forum you made for all of us will be a saleable commodity. Forums always kinda piss me off like this. I've seen it several times. "I'm doin it for US"...then it's "well it takes a lot of effort and my time is worth something so I've taken on advertisers, etc". Then it's "welp, it's been fun and I really appreciate all YOU ppl MAKING the content (for FREE) but now I'm gonna SELL IT and move on".

Mostly it's because we know that if people stop actually communicating on it people will stop using it.

But you know... enjoy your nice dark conspiracies and such. Though, you do conveniently leave out the amount of time and money the General and I have sunk into creating this site and maintaining it...
