Re: New to Cambodia with young family
I can't imagine having my children with me in Cambodia (they are grown up now). I cannot imagine not being able to walk around the city, go on public transport, drive places, go to the park, go to the library, go to the zoo, go to the beach. What would you do? There is the cinema I suppose. And the museum.

I don't really understand your post. Are you saying we wouldn't be able to go to the beach, zoo ,park , library, walk around , drive places?armchairlawyer wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 6:40 pm I can't imagine having my children with me in Cambodia (they are grown up now). Re: New to Cambodia with young family
I mean not at all. Just can't be done at all or in a way that I would have found remotely satisfactory. But I'm sure people with children here can tell us how they cope.
Re: New to Cambodia with young family
OP, don’t expect too much from babysitting in Cambodia. Finding a good one you can communicate with will be like finding an ice cold beer in hell, and if you want to travel around you’d have to repeat the procedure of finding a new one several times.
Don’t expect your babysitter to be anywhere close to what you’re used to. Things work differently in Cambodia.

Re: New to Cambodia with young family
One addition, I have several Cambodian mums around my place with kids more or less the same age as my kid. None of them would qualify as a babysitter to me. The ignorance is simply too much for me.
Think stuff like putting tiger balm on the skin after a burn instead of cooling
Children playing bare foot (worms)
Children drinking water from a well
Hitting a kid is totally fine
I’m sure others can add to this.
