The government says this is FAKE NEWSClemen wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 8:04 am "Cambodia’s Health Ministry Denies Fake News that the Kingdom Demands £20,000 from Foreigner to Cure Lung Disease"
"Phnom Penh (FN), May 23 – Cambodia's health ministry spokesperson Or Vandine dismissed a fake news published by MSN, stating that Cambodia demanded £20,000 from foreign patients for infected lung treatment.
"Anthony Igoe, 31, was taken to hospital in Cambodia, where he is a teacher with a serious Infection in his lungs. But medics in the poverty-stricken country have now told him he will have to pay £20,000 for antibiotic drugs or doctors will simply remove the infected lung,” the website wrote.
The spokesperson considered the above statement fake news fabricated to discredit Cambodia’s Health Ministry."

Bear in mind that this was an estimate, and it's possible that it will be revised now that the government is taking an interest in the case.

Looks like BS from here. I'll be curious to see if their campaign is still live this time tomorrow.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 8:24 am

A story and a gofundme page is all it takes to rake in this much money from kindhearted and unsuspecting donors.

Re: UK National in Cambodia Risks Losing a Lung
Article on xxx now where they interview the bird.
She insists he is ill, and that the record in Scotland "put words in her mouth", and gives a few thousand word interview and manages to never name a hospital or clinic that they have visited.
I smell grifters.
