Name and Shame: IBC on MTT Bvd

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Expecting 1st world service from staff earning about $80/month? I agree they are pretty crap, but I doubt they were insulting you in Khmer openly. If they were, tell us what they said please!

Maybe he is paranoid or maybe he doesn't hear Khmer as well as he thinks. He says he just walked in both times, did nothing unusual, then 3 different Khmers staff members independently insulted him in Khmer, and also insulted his Khmer business manager, thinking neither one could understand Khmer? That is hard to believe.

Yes, if he tells us what they said we can decide for ourselves whether it was really an insult or whether he might have misheard the words.

I would agree in my experience that the staff in the MTT branch are useless compared to the ones on Sihanouk.

Useless, sure. But downright insulting to OP, his wife, and Khmer boss? Me thinks a little artistic license has been used to aid the telling of an everyday tale of customer service in the kingdom. Stroppy?

I'm amazed that our 'missionary'man has learned the ins and outs of the Khmer language in the 5 minutes he's been here. But, if his post count on here is anything to go by, well done sir!

From this 4 months ago https://cambodiaexpatsonline.com/khmer-l ... -t979.html to being able to speak and understand Khmer, especially no doubt colloquial Khmer - must be a linguistic genius!

It didn't escalate Stroppy.....don't think so. But you got to tell the audience what words they have called you.....then we have something to discuss, you know.

Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht

In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

Wow good point. Fours months ago he didn't know the difference between "thanks" and "one more."
StroppyChops wrote: Yep, they're certainly forgiving! This week we've found ourselves asking for one more instead of saying thanks, and greeting someone formally instead of asking for one more.
Maybe the reason why the girl didn't respond when he said hello is that he actually greeted her by saying "Cucumber fried rice!"
