A $12 motorcycle "helmet" from the market (Pics)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Still, weighing the risk between maybe getting sliced up by some broken plastic vs the sort of damage that could be caused by smacking my completely unprotected skull on the pavement at speed, I think I'd risk the plastic cuts. Those helmets are definately shit but I've seen a couple of motorcycle accidents involving those cheap helmets, one in which the helmet was split in half by the impact, and the driver was still conscious afterward. Something of a judgement call I guess.

I bought a pretty good helmet in Thailand a few years back. Fortunately have not put it to the ultimate test. It may not be up to US standards, but it feels stronger than the stuff available here in Cambodia. Can't remember what I paid for it, but it wasn't $300. Somewhere around $100 I think.
Do you still have it and use it? If not, what size?
I'll give ya 500 Riel for it...

Your words, not mine. :hattip:
weaving a few centimeters(my words) vs. (your words) "weaving in and out of traffic"

I'll let it go if you will. Not trying to argue. Cheers. I just don't like my words twisted around. I hope you understand.
HEY, he's not weaving, he's just wobbling a bit, geez. Get off hit tits eh. :) It's a great strategy really. Look uncertain or wobbly.

Yes, I still have it, and though I rarely use it I still do sometimes so want to hang onto it. Probably too big anyway. Took a bit of work finding one big enough to contain my fat head.

The local Extra Larges are too small. I have a very big head. No worries though. Just thinking if you were not using it, I would maybe be interested in it.
