No more way to be expat in Cambodia, no more visa for non-retired and non-worker

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

No more way to be expat in Cambodia, no more visa for non-retired and non-worker

Post by onico »

Hello,

My EB visa expire in 3 weeks. I am less than 50 years old. I don't work in Cambodia (and sure, I will never do, because I get money from foreign investments).

I just called the biggest (I guess) travel agency, the closest of the immigration office... they just say me : you can go outside the country and come back to get 1+6 month with an E+EG visa, but after it's done. They say : EG, it's "one time" even if you cross the border, even by plane. Only "one time" in your whole life.

You all really cheat with a fake letter & stamp which expose you to big troubles for fraud in the future ?

Do you know similar countries which still have the wind in their sails ? (without racism, and where we can find western product in the capital, it would be good to start)

Thank you :-)

 search Function … ER (Retirement) EOS (Extension of Stay) if under 55... easy-peasy.

Is this rhetorical?

Assuming not, no, many if not most of us have a valid reason to be here, the correct visa and EOS, taxed employment that is registered with the MoL, a leased property with a residence certificate, and a work permit. At least, the people I typically hang with do. Sorry if your experience is different.

Not true. Do a visa run and get a new E+EG.

I've done it as have many others.

Maybe try another agent?

Several people have told me they got a 6 months EB extension without any documents. They all arranged it after the elections though. I had to renew mine before and had to jump through quite a few hoops.

I didn’t have to leave for my first EG EoS. They just gave me it when asked.

I’ve just popped back to NZ and the immigration in Cambodia thought they had struck a gold mine (I hadn’t left Cambodia since 2015). It took their big boss coming over and bollocking them before letting me pass through. I don’t actually know what they were rubbing their hands together over but my only guess was the fact I had transferred from an EB to an EG without leaving.

Thanks for all your testimonials.

So, they are clearing the country with a good pressure washer ? Just need to hold on waiting the storm to end ? Without that, who will rent yearly the new brand condominiums which grow everywhere in PP ?

Let's share your thoughts! ;-)
