No more way to be expat in Cambodia, no more visa for non-retired and non-worker

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

So, they are clearing the country with a good pressure washer ? Just need to hold on waiting the storm to end ? Without that, who will rent yearly the new brand condominiums which grow everywhere in PP ?

Let's share your thoughts! ;-)
Clearing out the undesireables, yes. Of course. Long overdue.

Who will "rent yearly all the brand new condomimiums" in PP? People who have a valid reason and documents to reside and/or work in Cambodia and can afford to do so. Welcome to 2018.

It's more like they are giving the country an enema.

Do you know similar countries which still have the wind in their sails ? (without racism, and where we can find western product in the capital, it would be good to start)
Vn. i think their forex is not so great. It is not like Cambodia is all that cheap anymore.

I empathize with OP, I also came to Cambodia because of easy visas (among other things). Pay it in time,no question asked and you were good year by year!
The latest rules, and the uncertainty of it all, are making me move.
I have legitimate income from property in Europe and an online job, but hate beaurocracy.
Not sure if Cambodia will gain from losing my 2000$+ spending in PP, but have to respect whatever rules of host country!
Now checking out South America but it's nowhere as nice as the KOW!

The apartments were not built to be rented, but to whitewash.

You misunderstand the motive.

And whitewashing isn't just spending. So they'll be looking for buyers and renters.

If you're rich enough to retire before age 50 and live off investments, it shouldn't be a burden for you to fly to Bangkok for a weekend every two months then return on a tourist visa, extend tourist visa by 30 days, repeat.

Maybe not a burden but surely an inconvenience.
