Morals

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

most of my life i thought, society is ruled top-down... so we elect someone and then they give 'directions'.

in SE asia you can see how its bottom-up.
as mentally lost and handicapped the individual is, as is the whole country.
you can put whatever top government on here....

i also was an avid and convinced financial donor for the usual NGOs. from the day i started working, basically. i left the roman catholic and would donate the money to minimum two monthly child sponsorships.
wouldn't do that again.

my moral doesn't change.

You're right! What you've just said is in no way a skewed version of my moral code and of the points that I have made in this thread thus far. The rest of us can only aspire and look up to a shining example of intellectual honesty such as yourself.

For real though, did you even read what I wrote before?
My beef is with capitalists, not with everybody who has got mor money than me. I gave you the example of my brother. He earns waaaay more money than me, but I'm cool with that. He actually earns his money. He doesn't exploit other people's labor.

Also, I will not stand for your false allegations. I never stole jack shit from anybody you slanderous scumbag!

Me either - and I was a missions director/coordinator for two different church denominations.

I think the vast majority of people have stolen something in their lives, so I find a lot of the self-righteousness a little obnoxious (looking at you Add Jay). There's a host of reasons and situations that can justify it or not. I think most would say it is okay to steal bread if you're starving. Robin Hood is a beloved children's character who stole from the rich and gave to the poor - no euphemism or other obfuscation of what was actually happening (of course, it was justified because the rich in the story were corrupt). Theft can be considered a justifiable crime, depending on circumstances.

So when Jacket says he's against stealing from people poorer than him, I don't see that as him saying that those richer are open season. He's just sayjng it would be an instance of unjustifiable theft, as opposed to justifiable theft (which society seems to acknowledge exists).
