Missing Taabarang
Re: Missing Taabarang
I’m glad to hear he’s okay.
If I click my fingers and say “Glory Hole” three times maybe he will come back.

I'm with that! He takes no shit and has a lot worth listening to.Ot Mean Loi wrote:Gentlemen,

Perhaps Forum Ownership/Management could un-bar him and invite him to return to the forum?
Being a "Crusty Old Bugger", to borrow a phrase, in no way detracts from his immense knowledge and understanding of life in the "real" Cambodia.
Any person married to a bi-lingual Khmer woman of education and totally immersed/in-bedded in a Cambodian small community for close to 20 years now has, by assimilation and osmosis, to have insights and understanding equivalent to a Master's or PHD Thesis in Khmer Anthropology, unlike the bar flies and city bound expats on forum, and any lack of polish in terms of expression when responding to cretins is totally excusable.
So invite Don back to the forum and cut him some slack, the same slack as resident forum idiots get, and talk to him directly in his twilight period.
Don is stronger mentally than some may think despite his incurable situation.

Re: Missing Taabarang
Taabarang is now officially unbanned.
Re: Missing Taabarang
This comes as a huge surprise, "Taabarang" barred from the forum, we could ask the question "why" for what reason to ban a long term member whom contributed so much to the forum and its members, and more so the time when he was talking of his own problem of coming to terms with his illness, and very personal time for him and his family, very possible worries in his days of need, to talk with corresponding writings of friends on this forum. I would hope the ban was some kind of error, or at the very least the management had very good call to make the dissension to follow through an appropriate act.Ot Mean Loi wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 1:36 pm Gentlemen,

I first would like to thank "Ot Mean Loi" for making this post public. It is good for members to know that their old friend is still around and reading there posts and stories.
Apologises to Taabarang "Don", and also his many friends on the forum. I will explain myself, being concerned over time, and before communicating with him on the forum and phone, some time ago, long before this ailment he had wrote and posted of, on the forum. I was in the process of visiting him, but unfortunately it never happened due to him having another pressing problem he had to sort out. It was a shame because at the time I would be passing by his home at least twice daily, and if he did happen to need any help too at the time I would have been there.
A member of CEO was very concerned lately about "Taabarang" and his wellbeing, if he was still around, or what may have happened to him, just like many of you here.
Some weeks ago, I had decided myself being concerned to do a little detective work, but also not to pry on the gentleman's privacy, nor his family's. My findings in no time were to confirm that he is indeed still here with us, "but apparently not on the forum" I read today.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Re: Missing Taabarang
I never knew he was banned and don't know why but he originally posted under other alias,s and could have posted under one of those, so don't expect him to come crawling back as if all is forgiven. If anything
he may come back looking for blood as he's got nothing to lose. Or should I say us Grumpy Old Bastards have got nothing to lose

I caught the tail end of his thread. It seemed he was tormented by some members.
I wish him good speed.

He was a bit of a bully himself, he was hardly “tormented.”

Re: Missing Taabarang
OML, thanks for making such a well-thought-out post about the situation. If every person who had a comment on a modding decision was this articulate, we probably wouldn't even need a 'ban' feature!Ot Mean Loi wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 1:36 pm Gentlemen,

And yes, I've missed him too, and as UT said, he's welcome back, and what fucking good news to hear he's still around! Just to point out though, he still needs to follow the same rules we all do, and while he's no doubt an abyss of great information, it, unfortunately, can't give him the right to go around attacking other members, which is what was starting to happen more and more.
That said, I don't want to dwell on that, as we all know he's been going through one hell of a time. And I hope you all understand the ONLY reason we would have banned him is that we thought he was going overboard with attacks on fellow members, and we simply can't have that. And it pains us to have to ban big contributors, as we lose those valuable contributions, but keeping someone who stirs up shit also has a cost of potentially losing other great members who don't deserve that crap. It's always a hard call, but we still make them when we feel it's necessary.
So welcome back @TaaBarang and glad to hear you are still with us (both literally and figuratively)!!
