Mekong Whisky no more - say it isn't so

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Mekong Whisky no more - say it isn't so

Post by Otis »

Went to my accustomed little grocery near 144 and 51, then to a liquor store across from Psar Kandal. They said Mekong Whisky is at min because its no being manufactured anymore. But went to a store near 136 and 51 and got 2 bottles no prob.

Any info, bros?

For that price, I guess it's worth going blind.

Do they still have Alexander(Alexandre?) whiskey? It was 3000r for the standard bottle and 5000r for the premium when I was given a sample about a year or so ago. It's worth stumping up the extra 2000, less chainsaw. I thought Mekong was only $1, 5000r sounds like a rip-off.

Mekong is generally $1. I think it's either rum or slightly sweet whisky made from rice. And to the hysteric above, the only blindness associated with this perfectly ok product that's been around forever is among those that baseless assert that it will make you blind. Mrs Palm and her five daughters on the other hand....

Again any word on its being discontinued?
