Meeting other English people

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Meeting other English people

Post by hatnan »

Been here 5 days. Ripped off from all angles. Spent $6 getting to and from a job interview that didn't even happen this morning. Feeling isolated. How can i meet people who speak English?

Where are you? There's not many people in Cambodia who speak English and hardly any foreigners so it might be very hard to find anyone to speak English with apart from on the forums ;)

People from England? Don't know. Maybe Rehabb Pub after 5pm?
English speakers of various nationalities and open right now: Red Fox Bar; Lone Star Bar; Kandal House; Rising Sun; any of the happy pizza places on Sisowath; and just about everywhere on street 172 between streets 13 & 19 (Blue Dolphin/Fine; Dolce Vita; Laughing Fatman; Aroma Chef; Sonny Side Up; etc.)

Hope your day gets better!

You are in danger of morphing into John Bingham aka LL, with this type of comment. :hattip:

Create a YouTube channel and just be yourself. Pretty soon you'll have a cult following.

Beware the water festival; there's a local sacrifice of an English person each year at this time and "friendly" forum dwellers often try to lure an unsuspecting victim into town at this time. Being crucified on 172 isn't quite as funny as it sounds...

Why come all this way to hang out with people you would otherwise avoid back home?

Bar girls speak English, get your wallet out

You must be in a border town yes. No jobs at the casino's now as all the Chinese run away back home!

Don't worry, bare with it, the first 10 years are the hardest!
