Marrying a Cambodian woman. Is it difficult?
Re: Marrying a Cambodian woman. Is it difficult?
Your interest in the jot-and-tiddle of marriage law while in the midst of or shortly after a divorce shows you are likely ice skating blindfolded on a window ledge.
Under any circumstances it is a disaster or at a minimum a prelude to extreme discomfort to marry anyone before living with them for a good long time - male and female alike.

Older sister in law has already announced that the ceremony will be in February. And she has already started a guest list and started preparing all the trappings.
I haven't even decided when yet. Did she go to a fortune teller for this info?

More than likely, yes, a fortune teller would have told them several ''lucky'' days to get married on and then one would have been chosen based of this.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2017 8:39 am

less expensive and less complicated to just pretend to be married. A resident visa is easy to acquire... without getting Married...unlike in the Philippines.

Yes you have to be earning 2000 or more a month. You have to have police report from your own country and be under 50 years of age. In my experience dont bloody do it. Her family comes first you will be put on the back burnerRonny wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2017 9:17 pm Hey, guys. I've been reading posts here for the last month or so and about the subject of marrying a Khmer woman, I've heard that you have to show proof of income in order to marry. And that income that you must prove comes out to about $2,000 plus a month? Is that true? What the hell, finding a Thai woman to marry is much easier. Can anyone here share their experiences with me? And also, how hard is it to find a good Khmer woman to be a girlfriend if you are only middle class and aren't "rich", so to speak?

Wow! Talk about resurrecting an almost 3 year old thread.
Difficult is relative. There is no more age restriction for foreigners, just the police report and proof of required income.
If the lady is the one for you, then no amount of requirements is too much. If the lady isn’t the one for you, then any will be too much.
As for the lady always choosing family over you, I’ve always been served first in any gatherings. It’s always been a mutual discussion on what to do. She’s never gone against my express wishes.
Number of sick buffalo sent to Vietnam to the special buffalo hospital = 0
Number of land or houses that I didn’t get benefit from = 0
Number of phones that expectedly get destroyed or lost = 0
Emergency surgery to save life of family members = a couple. With the option? Let family members die to prove that foreigners are cheap skate bastards?
If someone wants a woman just for company, to throw away whenever it’s no longer convenient, why not just rent them?
Why waste a good Khmer woman’s life and precious time on a dead end?

it is cheaper to rent than it is to buy. Check out the Philippines if finding a woman is your main objective...and you if are a Pooriegner. Many Women are eager to marry an old money bag...I even got lucky and am Not rich. There are 30 million + people that are HUNGRY now and that increase your odds "immensely". Life is Much Better in Cambodia in All other aspects...imho...EXCEPT the wonderful Ocean there in Pi. Marry a Filipina and bring her here was my solution.

When Less is Best...my monthly income is not quite enough to get married here. "Marked Safe" from another bad choice.
It is not more fun in the Philippines but it is Cheaper!
