Don't rural Thais semi-worship these fetuses, pray for them to grant wishes, and try to divine lottery #s in their presence ? If they're grossly malformed, they've got bigger Ju-Ju I think.BlueMoon wrote:Apparently this is not the most bizarre body parts case coming from Bangkok:

PHUKET: An arrest warrant will be issued for an American man who allegedly tried to courier human parts to the US. He faces charges of theft, possessing stolen items and falsely declaring the types of items being posted.
He was also apparently captured on surveillance cameras entering Siriraj Hospital's medical museum recently before the body parts were reported missing, a police source said yesterday. - See more at: http://www.phuketgazette.net/thailand-n ... ad-image-0
Surely he's made it into Cambodia by now. Confirmation anywhere?

Re: Man Ships Baby Body Parts to US, Heads to Cambodia
He has entered Cambodia.
Thai police are seeking two Americans after the body parts of several babies – said to be stolen from a medical museum – were found in five parcels destined for the United States over the weekend.
The two men, aged 31 and 33, left Thailand and crossed into Cambodia yesterday, according to Sombat Milintajinda, a Thai police official assigned to the case.
They were questioned and released over the weekend after saying they’d bought the parts at a local market.
Milintajinda said they went through a crossing in Aranyaprathet district in Sa Kaeo province.
One of the Americans was identified as Ryan Edward McPherson, whose age and nationality match those of the director of Bumfights, a video series that paid homeless people to fight each other on camera.
Authorities say the baby parts were preserved in formaldehyde solution and contained a left foot, skull, face and heart as well as pieces of skin tattooed with Khmer letters and tiger patterns.
Discovered during a scan of packages at a DHL package depot in Bangkok, the boxes were addressed to Las Vegas and marked “toys”.
The medical faculty of Siriraj Hospital in Thailand said yesterday that the parts were stolen from its medical museum last month. Faculty dean Dr Udom Kachintorn said the five bottles containing human organs belonged to the museum.
Siriraj checked the footage of security cameras back to last month and it was found that one of the two foreigners who were interrogated by police had visited the museum. However, the security camera footage did not show whether the man had stolen the items, Udom said.
The dean said Siriraj had not been aware the items were missing because individual departments contributed their collections for exhibition at the museum.
In Cambodia, Lieutenant General Chhay Sinarith, deputy commissioner of the National Police, said the Thais had thus far not asked for their cooperation.

This might not go down so well here.

Arrest warrants issued for the 2 Americans:
Bangkok, Thailand (CNN) - Two Americans stole adult and infant body parts from a museum inside a Bangkok hospital and tried to ship them to Las Vegas, Thai police say.
The two men, identified as Ryan Edward McPherson and Daniel Jamon Tanner, told police they wanted to surprise their friends back home, Royal Thai Police Deputy Commissioner Gen. Ruangsak Jritake said.
It was not immediately clear whether McPherson or Tanner had attorneys.
A delivery company intervened in the shipment. On Saturday, a DHL office in Thailand's Pathum Thani province called police after workers there were scanning shipments and discovered the body parts inside three packages.
The packages contained five acrylic plastic boxes, Jritake said.
One box contained an infant's head; another contained a baby's left foot, which was sliced into three pieces, the police official said. The other acrylic boxes contained an adult heart and adult skin.
"We have talked with an American who was trying to send the parcels to the USA, but we could not press any charges on him and we are not quite sure which laws we can apply to him." Bang Pongpang police chief Col. Adisorn Semsawat said over the weekend.
At the time, police said the American told them he found the infant body parts at a night flea market and that he had paid about $100 for them -- though he could not remember where the market was located.
But on Monday, authorities revealed more details on the case.
All the body parts were stolen from the Siriraj Medical Museum within Siriraj Hospital, the largest hospital in Thailand, Jritake said. The body parts were taken from the forensic medicine museum and anatomical museum.
Police said closed-circuit video from the hospital showed two men identified as McPherson and Tanner.
A Thai criminal court approved arrest warrants for the two men on charges of theft from a government hospital, police said. If convicted, McPherson and Tanner could face up to seven years in prison or a fine of up to 500,000 Thai baht ($15,200).
But the Americans have already left Thailand for Cambodia. Thai officials may have to seek the two men's extradition.
Thai police say they've been in touch with the U.S. Embassy.
Not the first time
The bizarre discovery is not the first time infant remains have been found in Thailand. In 2010, more than 2,000 illegally aborted fetuses were recovered at a Buddhist temple in Bangkok.
Infant body parts can be bought on the Thai black market. Some Thais practice black magic and believe that supernatural power comes from infant body parts, if the rites are performed by monks or sorcerers. They believe that having the items provides protection and business success and can ward off bad luck.
Police say in 2010, the smell of decay led investigators to the Phai-nguern Chotinaram temple in central Bangkok, where they discovered.....

Cambodia Asked to Help Find US Body-Part Smugglers
Thai authorities have asked Cambodia’s Interpol office to help them capture two U.S. nationals believed to have entered Cambodia after allegedly attempting to ship human body parts to their home country, a Thai official said Tuesday.
Lieutenant General Prawut Thawornsiri, spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, said Cambodia’s Interpol office agreed to cooperate in locating Ryan Edward McPherson and Daniel Tanner, who are wanted for attempting to send the body parts—including a baby’s head—to Las Vegas.
“We have some information from the border that they crossed over into Cambodia. Yes, we have tried to connect with the Cambodian Interpol and they accepted, but they haven’t found anything yet,” Lt. Gen. Prawut said.
“Right now, we don’t know where they are in Cambodia because [the suspects] know about the case already so they have to hide. I’m almost 100 percent sure they are in Cambodia,” he added.
Mr. McPherson, 31, and Mr. Tanner, 33, are wanted on charges including attempting to illegally smuggle human tissue out of the country using a false shipping declaration. They are believed to have fled across the border to Cambodia on Sunday, the Bangkok Post reported Tuesday.
According to the Bangkok Post, the Americans originally claimed to have bought the body parts—which were discovered at a DHL post office—at a night market in Bangkok, and the two were released after questioning before fleeing into Cambodia. Thai authorities issued a warrant for their arrest once evidence emerged that the pair may have actually stolen the body parts from Bangkok’s Siriraj Medical Museum, the newspaper reported.
But despite Lt. Gen. Prawut’s claims, numerous Cambodian officials—including one at Cambodia’s Interpol office—said they had not been informed about the fugitives by Thai authorities.
Lim Sokha Raksmey, acting director of the Interpol office; the Interior Ministry’s immigration chief Sok Phal; and National Police spokesman Kirth Chantharith all claimed to know nothing about the case Tuesday.
Border police chief Chhay Bunna also claimed to be in the dark.
“So far, we haven’t been contacted by the Thai authorities, but if they contact us for help, we will cooperate because the two governments have an agreement,” he said.
U.S. Embassy spokesman Jay Raman said he was aware of the case but declined to comment further.
“We are aware of reports alleging a U.S. citizen may have been involved in attempting to ship items from Thailand that have concerned the local authorities, but I’d have to refer you to the Thai authorities as we cannot comment on individual cases,” he said.
Mr. McPherson and Mr. Tanner have faced past charges in the U.S.—including battery in 2003—over their involvement in the production of “Bumfights,” a controversial.....

Re: Man Ships Baby Body Parts to US, Heads to Cambodia
THE POLICE who briefly detained and questioned two Americans found attempting to courier human body parts via DHL should face charges of dereliction of duty for failing to charge them with filing false information during delivery registration, Lawyers' Council of Thailand chairman Dej-udom Krairit said yesterday.
Notified by DHL of delivery registration that stated the cargo was toys being sent to Las Vegas addresses, the Bang Phongphang police could have immediately charged Ryan Edward McPherson and Daniel Jamon Tanner with filing false information, after they admitted to it during brief questioning.
Dej-udom said both Americans, who left for Cambodia soon after being released, were also in criminal violation of customs regulations that bar postal delivery of human parts and organs. He said the police officers failed to nail them for this offence. They also failed to inspect delivery registration notes that both the accused had signed, making the crime complete and immediately chargeable.
He said law enforcement should be applied equally to all offenders committing crimes in Thailand.
However, police in this case appeared to be lenient with both Americans.
Meanwhile, police who interviewed the custodians and staff at Siriraj Hospital, whose museum owned the five stolen human parts, said none of them were involved in the loss of the items.
A senior interrogator, Pol Maj-General Sombat Milinthajinda, said surveillance-camera footage handed over to the police by the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, only showed the two men entering and leaving the museum. The footage did not reveal them hiding anything inside their outfits on the way out.
He said security measures had been put in place after the loss of bodies of twin infants from the museum in 2003, but these involved only registration of visitors and installation of security cameras, while visitors could roam freely once they got inside.
