LTE in Phnom Penh

Post by Jacobincambodia »

Hey gang, I've took the plunge and subscribed to LTE by Smart and I'm no longer a skeptic. It really is screaming fast. I'm not 100% sure about device compatibility but I'm on my own iPhone 6 and it works just fine! I've attached a speed test from here to HK where the intl line hits first. I would highly recommend it!

$5 for the first 2gb and then I also got 8.5gb additional for only $10. Not expensive at all!

Jacob, it would be good if you could do a review of this in say 3 months time.

Cheers,

I was going to switch over to Smart for their LTE and sure enough their coverage for it comes right up to the next street over. We miss it by about 200 meters according to Smart's Map. But then again, we are down here in Boeng TomPun.

Good info Jacob.
I'll give ya 500 Riel for it...

I believe only a select number of Samsung devices and the iPhone are compatible right now and there are the LTE bands your device supports to consider as well.

I will report back to this thread. I live in Takhmao so I know there isn't coverage out there. So far, no problems and I've been using it pretty heavily in the city today. There is latency to consider since you'll most likely be commenting back to the States or some sort of .com address. But I downloaded app updates today and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was incredibly fast.

Smart says they've covered 90% of PP, but who knows how accurate that is.

It's way cheaper and faster than T-Mobile back in the States as well.

FYI
http://smart.com.kh/4G-LTE/#4GLTEPlan

Couldn't find the proper Smart page but pretty sure it's Band 3 LTE 1800Mhz

So check your phone specs as not all will be compatable
